Job Description

3rd Shift Press Operator (10pm - 6am)

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain gravure or multi-color offset presses to print single, two, or multi-color work, including large solids, screen tints, lines, and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements.
• Review job specifications to determine press setup based on the imposition of the run (sheet-wise or work and turn).
• Perform make-ready tasks such as hanging plates, installing cylinders, inspecting plates/cylinders for imperfections, and checking image registration, prepping blankets, and adjusting tension.
• Make necessary color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications before and during production.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, and perform minor repairs and part replacements as needed.
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a printing press.
• Skills in complex mechanical manipulations, setup, adjustments, routine maintenance, and minor repairs of printing equipment for single, two, or multi-color work.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications and press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
• Proficiency in using a micrometer for mounting and aligning printing plates accurately.

The salary range for this role at the specified RRD location is $26 - $30 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on factors such as education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, performance, shift, location, and business needs. Roles typically follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, call-in, and standby pay.
