Job Purpose
The Production Superintendent oversees and manages daily production operations on 3rd shift, ensuring processes are efficient, safe, and meet quality and output standards. This is achieved by supervising teams, coordinating resources, and troubleshooting issues to maximize productivity and minimize costs for the company.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements new manufacturing layouts
- Reduces lost and idle time
- Ensures effective product line communication
- Reduces non-conformities and non-value added processes
- Ensures operator emphasis on customer expectations
- Develops and implements cost reduction programs
- Develops short and long term strategic plans
- Manages production supervisors and other support personnel
- Continuous manufacturing process improvement resulting in reduced re-work and product scrap
- Management of on-hand and work in process inventories
- Coordinate continuous improvement activities resulting in high quality and competitively priced products
- Develops and maintains results oriented business plans
- Develops subordinates and ensures consistency in personnel policy administration
- Ability to manage and run departments by the number to ensure profitability
- Ensure effective utilization of assets
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Accounting or related field preferred or equivalent education and/or experience as a Supervisor.
- Must have excellent organizational skills, must be able to lead teams and interact with all levels in the plant
- Must have proven planning, problem solving, interpersonal, and financial management skills
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Benchmarking methods and must be able to think pro-actively to implement positive change
- Must be a visionary with the insight to enable sustained growth of the plant and its people
- Previous experience in a union environment preferred
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
