This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing food processing and packaging equipment and associated components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, processing, and packaging equipment.
• Diagnoses and repairs conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and hydraulic and pneumatic devices.
• Reads and interprets schematics and blueprints accurately.
• Initiates purchase requests for replacement parts.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, welders, and other metalworking devices.
• Performs all duties in a safe, efficient, and professional manner, practicing GMPs and working with limited supervision.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary work area; may perform other duties as assigned.

Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required. Wages, hours, and conditions are outlined in a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Overtime is mandatory, and all scheduled hours must be worked.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Qualifications:

• One-year certificate from college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of paid work experience at the Journeyman Mechanic level.
• Welding, troubleshooting, familiarity with shop equipment, basic electrical knowledge, measuring devices, and basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Electrical, Repair Facility, Field Service, Sheetmetal shop, or installation experience.

Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Math skills including basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to follow instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.

Physical Demands: Regular use of hands, standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and specific vision abilities.

Work Environment: Exposure to moving parts, electrical shock, heights, wet conditions, fumes, chemicals, heat, vibration, and loud noise.
