Hours: 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM

In this role, you will:
- Orient specimens properly while embedding at departmental rate.
- Cut and mount paraffin sections, including routine, deepers, recuts, and special stains.
- Coverslip slides using the automatic coverslipper or manual methods.
- Verify case numbers match blocks and slides using the block/slide tracking system.
- Assist in filing blocks and engraving slides as needed.
- Evaluate specimen orders and accurately enter clinical data into computer systems, correcting any missing or invalid data.
- Perform procedures to process and submit patient specimens for analysis.
- Operate automated and semi-automated equipment per SOPs.
- Understand routine H&E staining principles and theories.
- Communicate deficiencies related to specimens, slides, paperwork, data, and equipment to relevant personnel.
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
All you need is:
- 1 year of experience as a Histology Technician or training in histologic techniques (new graduates welcome).
- Preferred certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, pipettes, and alarms.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates or Bachelors of Science degree and completion of a Histology Technology program preferred.
- ASCP certification as a Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) preferred.

Additional Information:
This role involves routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on safeguards and are expected to maintain confidentiality and abide by privacy standards. PHI access is limited to job requirements.
