Skills

  • Vision
    • Able to differentiate colors utilizing samples and/or color chips.
  • Technical Mathematics
    • Basic shop math.
    • Convert between English and Metric
    • Numeric conversions: use various numbering methods such as scientific notation, decimals and fractions and convert values.
  • Metrology
    • Common gauges and measurement instruments
    • Calipers, Micrometer, scales etc..
    • Must have basic level understanding of mechanical inspection.
  • Print/Drawing
    • Must have knowledge on how to read print and pull certain information
    • Revision level, print/part number, tolerance block and dimensions
  • Computer Knowledge
    • Must have basic computer knowledge using excel spreadsheets. Enter data and save files.

Duties

  • Under limited supervision perform floor inspections, per procedures/inspection guide/prints, on parts in house and from customers and/or suppliers.
  • Input and maintain inspection data into Inspection Process Sheet.
  • Issue MRB's through ERP System for non-conforming product that is found.
  • Communicate non-conformance findings with Shift Production Supervisors.
  • Provide explanation of VIC to operators on the production floor.
  • Complete special projects, as assigned

Essential Skills, Duties & Responsibilities (Inspector II)

Skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 5-6 years inspection experience.
  • All skills listed in Inspector I position apply
  • Technical Math
    • Basic Algebra and Geometry
  • Metrology
    • Specialized Equipment
    • Vision system for basic measurements
    • Customer supplied gauge for specific parts
    • Gauge Selection
    • If no gauge is listed be able to identify a gauge that can be used to provide accurate results
  • Print/Drawing
    • Limited knowledge of GD&T
  • Problem Solving Skills
    • Knowledge of root cause analysis (5 Why, fishbone, etc..)
    • Knowledge CAPA and SCAR's.
  • Training
    • Must be able to train Inspector I - New hires
  • Computer Knowledge
    • Must be able to make spreadsheets and basic knowledge of formulas.
    • Use of MiniTab to perform statistical analysis
  • Duties:
    • Perform floor inspections, per procedures/inspection guide/prints, on parts in house and from customers and/or suppliers.
    • Input and maintain inspection data into Inspection Process Sheet.
    • Issue MRB's through ERP System for non-conforming product that is found.
    • Communicate non-conformance findings with Shift Production Supervisors.
    • Train new employee(s) (inspectors) when hired.
    • Train operators on quality criteria. (VIC)
    • Perform measurements for validation.
    • Assist in performing Gauge R&R
    • Utilize MiniTab for Capability Analysis
    • Serve as back-up for basic C of C packages
    • Perform mid-level FAIR's for validation with some GD&T
    • Complete special projects, as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must use shop mathematics and follow verbal & written instructions
    • Become proficient in company procedures and knowledgeable in opening all department equipment
    • Requires up to 1-6 years of experience in quality assurance to become completely familiar with instruments, job specifications, methods and operations
    • Must have basic print reading.
    • Safety protection must be worn as required
