Job Description
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts and lubricates and cleans parts as needed in accordance with food/beverage manufacturing quality system practices.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices and starts devices to test their performance.
- Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills and shares expertise with others.
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in decision-making process.
- Works with Maintenance Manager to prioritize and plan work activities and completes work in a timely manner.
- Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
- Works within approved budget and conserves organizational resources.
- Follows policies and procedures and observes safety and security procedures.
- Uses equipment and materials properly and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Maintains inventory records and performs cycle counts as necessary.
- Mechanic must have own basic set of tools, to include, but not be limited to the following items: wrenches & sockets, adjustable wrenches, pliers, nut drivers, screwdrivers and hammer.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory duties.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer and keyboarding skills; knowledge of Inventory and Maintenance Related Software. PLC experience a plus.
- Physical Demands: Regularly seated and required to use hands; able to lift up to 50 pounds; required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; vision requirements as stated.

- Work Environment: Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions; production areas may be loud with hearing protection required.
