The Machine Operator in Franklin, WI will be a key stakeholder for a new 340,000 square foot conversion facility and will help Saputo optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong history in Wisconsin and is expanding our footprint in this area.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain machines within multiple departments to ensure high-quality product, smooth operation, and proper maintenance.
- Adjust, perform minor repairs and change overs of equipment to insure proper operation.
- Neatly, accurately, and legibly maintain all records and documentation.
- Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.
- Perform quality checks, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to a supervisor.
- Monitor and oversee the overall quality of the finished product by maintaining equipment and the sanitary condition of the facility.
- Maintain packaging quality according to customer specifications on production sheets (price/date/label/packaging).
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures including GMP, SOP, HACCP, SSOP, and H&S.
- Keep work area neat, clean, and organized at all times.
- Minimize waste and make productive use of downtime.
- Attend mandatory safety and departmental meetings.
- Sanitize lines when needed.
- Enter data on production reports.
- Perform any assignment or task according to stated safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Quality Food Program requirements and company policies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to consistently push, pull, and lift between 20 and 100 pounds.
- Working knowledge of production and plant processes.
- Ability to work scheduled hours and required overtime as needed.
- Reliability, honesty, respect, attention to detail, and punctuality.
- Basic analytical and numerical skills and ability to perform simple mathematical calculations in different units of measurement.
- Effective communication skills.
- Working knowledge of safety methods and procedures.
- Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to read and comprehend production worksheets.
- Professional conduct that positively represents Saputo at all times.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, varying temperatures, and physical activity (standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, etc.).
- Physical lifting up to 40 lbs unassisted frequently.
- Experience with chemicals, PPE usage, and safe chemical handling procedures.
