Overview

Organizes, coordinates and plans activities of production departments in the manufacturing of plastic container products. Performs initial setups and start up on tools and equipment. Acts as liaison with maintenance, quality assurance and production personnel.

Schedule

This position will train on the Monday to Friday 6:50am to 3pm day shift weekly repeating schedule. Once training is completed, the working schedule will change over to the Monday to Friday 10:50pm to 7am night shift weekly repeating schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes and records production operations
  • Review operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure minimum costs and prevents operational delays. ie: SMED development, ergonomics, LDR improvement.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Seeks methods to improve standard operational and working practices
  • Observes workers, molding machinery and conveyors to ensure compliance with safety standards and operating efficiency
  • Coordinates with mold set technician, department supervisors and production personnel for parts, tooling, equipment and machinery
  • Performs preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment as directed
  • Works with the machine attendants and supervisors in training of personnel
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering or related area and at least 3 year's work experience in the Plastic Injection Molding Industry as a Process Technician preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen experience/certification a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good Mathematical and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and GMP's
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting skills, preferably in injection and blow molding processes
  • Ability to work for up to 12 hours at a time on Day shift or Overnight shift

Physical Requirements

  • Plant facility runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week consistently, excluding designated holidays or prearranged shut down.
  • Ability to be on feet consistently 8 hours up to a 12 hours per scheduled shift.
  • Training for this position will be done during the day shift schedule between 6:50am to 3pm, Monday to Friday weekly repeating schedule.
  • Once training is completed the schedule will then rotate over to the night shift schedule of 10:50pm to 7am, Monday to Friday weekly repeating schedule.
  • When business demands are necessary, overtime can be mandatory.
  • Walking throughout the plant during scheduled shift, continuous rotation between the plant’s production lines.
  • The employee is required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, couch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb, minimal, only as needed.
  • Ability to lift as needed up to 50lbs during scheduled shift
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is inside, however not temperature controlled, can be 90+ degrees. Exposed to both heat and cold depending on the daily weather conditions outside, and plastic mold machine station working at.
