Purpose of Position
To provide a smooth skiing surface and consistent snow density and distribution in order to enhance the guests\' enjoyment and maximize their safety.
Responsibilities
- Competently and conscientiously perform the required vehicle and equipment inspections and servicing, recording results accurately and completely
- Safe operation of equipment
- Demonstrate a complete familiarity with Deer Valley\'s terrain and grooming routes
- Consistently provide above average or better results using any of Deer Valley\'s grooming equipment on all Deer Valley terrain
- Successfully execute assignments effectively and efficiently without direct supervision
- Provide effective guidance to other operators when designated to lead a group assignment
- Successfully execute specialized assignments: i.e., maze and ramp work, special plow jobs, skier access, winch operations, etc.
- Quickly and accurately identify problems with projects or equipment and be able to offer appropriate solutions or alternatives
- Effectively participate in project related decision making and be supportive of the ultimate solutions
- Possess the ability to coordinate one\'s grooming techniques with those of others during group projects
- Assist in the training and development of other operators
- Exhibit a continuous effort to increase one\'s grooming effectiveness and efficiency
- Assist mechanics or coworkers with minor repairs and equipment changes
- Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and facilities
- Exhibit professional conduct and proper radio etiquette
Requirements
- Advanced grooming skills in the use of all Deer Valley grooming equipment on all terrain
- A good operational and mechanical knowledge of all Deer Valley grooming equipment
- Complete familiarity with Deer Valley\'s terrain
- An advanced understanding of grooming objectives and techniques
- Good concentration
- Receptive and responsive to instructions
- Safety conscious
- Ability to work well with others
- Communication skills and dependability
- Must be willing to work swing and graveyard shift
- Must provide basic tool kit
- Must have reliable transportation for extreme conditions
- Must have a phone to maintain communication
