YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary:
As the Group Controller, you ensure strong and timely accounting and reporting, and you are overseeing and monitoring an effective control environment throughout the North America region. In this role you take responsibility for the preparation of the group financial statements in accordance with corporate accounting guidelines and other financial reporting requirements. Based on your financial knowledge, you will prepare financial analysis and provide North America management with financial advice and information.
This position will undertake the development of internal control policies and procedures, including financial risk management.
Job Description:
- Manage the regional quarterly and annual closing and audit and preparation of the North America financial statements
- Coordinate Finance team in month-end closing processes and deliver timely monthly regional financial reports within North America
- Review and cascade corporate accounting policies, and ensure consistent execution across the region
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Provide guidance related to GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
- Collaborate with other finance team members to structurally strengthen our core of financial processes
- Regional tax reporting and accounting and monitoring relationships with internal tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings
- Maintain relationship with Shared Service Center to ensure timely accounting posting and reconciliations on key profit and loss and balance sheet items, identify variances and drive improvements
- Investigate reporting and control improvement opportunities and implement accordingly
- Participate in special projects such as Acquisitions/Post Merger Integration, Shared Service transitions, and other improvement initiatives
YOUR PROFILE
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a CPA designation or in the advanced stages of the program
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with experience working at Big 4 accounting firms
- Seven years of general experience in finance, controlling, or accounting and at least three years of experience in a similar position
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across companies and departmental functions
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with the corporate office to establish policies and procedures
- Ability to manage staff
- Strong continuous improvement mindset and the ability to drive process change
- Understanding of financial processes and accounting principles (IFRS)
