Peer Counselor, We Care Daily Clinics – North Seattle

Location: 13555 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98133
Salary: $28.00 Hourly
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

We Care Daily Clinics (WCDC) is an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) facility using FDA-approved medication with behavioral health counseling. Our goal is to provide patient-centered care and a holistic approach to recovery, supporting our members during challenging times and removing barriers to health and wellness.

What You’ll Do

  • Help clients identify and work toward wellness goals while encouraging personal responsibility for recovery and wellness.
  • Encourage clients to develop natural supports by socializing and engaging with the community.
  • Adhere to the Harm Reduction Model and the philosophy that Medication Assisted Treatment is the preferred approach to addressing opioid addiction, with every person deserving respect, compassion and dignity.
  • Participate as a member of the treatment team, providing outreach, engagement and support of ongoing services to enrolled clients.
  • Utilize personal recovery experiences to provide guidance and support to clients and families.
  • Assist counselors/case managers in assessment, development and implementation of individual therapeutic and behavioral programs.
  • Provide crisis stabilization support (including suicide watch and risk monitoring).
  • Advocate for clients and coordinate referrals with other community agencies; maintain relationships with community and government agencies, professionals, families and significant others.
  • Provide consultation/education services to other organizations as appropriate.
  • Monitor and assist in the Neighborhood Center; perform front desk reception duties as needed.
  • Support the mission with all other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Certification in Peer Counseling is required.
  • Work experience in the social service field or substance use disorder treatment is preferred; Opioid Treatment Program experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of substance use treatment and counseling issues.
  • Computer literacy with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records systems; ability to adapt to technological changes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients and diverse contacts; strong conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; professional and ethical conduct in all business activities.
  • Compliance with testing, screening and credentialing requirements; valid WA state driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle other than your own (minimal travel).
  • Evening/weekend and some Saturday hours may be required.
