About the Position
We are hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in North Riverdale! DSPs work closely with individuals of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Depending on the supports needed, DSPs may work in various settings including homes, YAI residences, day habilitation centers, or the community.

Program & Location
- Residential Services in North Riverdale (Bronx)
Schedule
- Full-time, part-time, weekday and weekend shifts including mornings, evenings, and overnights.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and abilities, uphold their rights, and build positive relationships.
- Support personal goals, encourage social interactions, and facilitate community engagement.
- Supervise, protect, and care for individuals, including training in safety and escalation procedures.
- Provide support in various settings according to personalized plans, ensuring safety and dignity.
- Assist with activities of daily living, medication administration, skill development, communication, and advocacy.
- Transport individuals, support their independence, and maintain a safe environment.
- Document observations, activities, and incidents accurately and timely.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to maintain compliance and enhance skills.
- Operate a vehicle if required, with valid license and certifications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, assisting with mobility, and responding to emergencies.
- Effective communication skills, enthusiasm for supporting people with I/DD, patience, and empathy.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to obtain necessary certifications within one year.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the I/DD field is a plus but not mandatory.
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.00 - $19.05/hour, depending on experience.
