Medical Assistant – Tarboro, North Carolina

Join MainStreet Family Care as a Medical Assistant in Tarboro. The role supports on-site providers with patient intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge across services including urgent care, primary care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine.

We are hiring for both permanent and seasonal positions. Seasonal roles are non-benefited; the exact length of employment is based on business needs and can extend through March 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Provider(s) in patient care to ensure optimal delivery of medical services.
  • Triage patients promptly according to clinic procedures to maintain workflow.
  • Document vital signs, weight, and updates to the patient’s medical history prior to visits.
  • Perform lab tests in compliance with clinical guidelines and provider instructions.
  • Manage digital patient records and support transition from paper to electronic systems.
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient appointments, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Administer prescribed medications under provider supervision.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Position patients for x-rays following provider directives.
  • Help monitor and manage medical inventory as needed.

Schedule

  • Rotating schedule: 4 days one week and 3 days the next, including every other weekend (total of 7 workdays over a 14-day period).

Locations and Hours

  • MainStreet clinic hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • KidsStreet clinic hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

KidStreet locations include Montgomery, Pelham, Gainesville, Mobile, Augusta, Tallahassee, Columbus, Valdosta, Savannah, Charlotte, Wake Forest, Greenville, Wilmington, and Winston-Salem.

Locations and hours are subject to change.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Prior Medical Assistant experience or education is beneficial, but not required
