About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Retail/Wholesale Dry Goods Foods Buyer to join our team in the Bronx. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in wholesale food purchasing and a passion for optimizing product selection and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of relevant experience and a proven track record in SKU rationalization, ERP/MRP systems, and category management.
Job Title: Dry Goods Food Buyer
Location: Bronx, New York
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year
Schedule: Daytime Hours (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
• Source and procure dry goods food products from primary, secondary, and tertiary vendors.
• Conduct SKU rationalization to streamline product offerings and improve inventory efficiency.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing workflows and inventory levels.
• Lead category management initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to ensure competitive advantage.
• Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply and quality.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align purchasing strategies with business goals.
• Monitor market trends and adjust buying strategies accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3- 5 years of wholesale food buying experience, specifically in dry goods.
• Demonstrated experience with SKU rationalization and category management.
• Proficient in ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
• Excellent people skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and build rapport.
• Highly organized with strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
