Job Description

The Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets, and other associated food service activities.

***This position may also be requested to perform Janitorial or Fleet Service Duties***

Responsibilities

• Performs all main line food production duties with specific items determined by the assigned shift.
• Reviews the daily needs with the supervisor, completes production sheets, reviews maintenance reports, and verifies supply needs and availability.
• Assists in menu and recipe development.
• Ensures the quality and quantity of food production and maintains sanitation standards in assigned areas.
• Supervises and trains food service personnel.
• Coordinates with kitchen helpers/assistants for smaller item preparation.
• Oversees food serving lines, areas, bars, ensuring proper stocking, setup, and cleanliness.
• Fills in for any general food service position as needed.
• Instructs others on proper rotation procedures for produce and dairy.
• Maintains equipment and storage areas following sanitation, safety, and operational procedures.
• May assist other food service staff as needed.
• Performs cleaning duties, including dishwashing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Food Handler card or Alaska Food Workers card.
• At least two (2) years of vocational training; candidates without such training require two additional years of related experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of food preparation experience.
• Ability to instruct and train others and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Some positions require a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor, frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud.

Environment: Airport setting.

Physical demands: Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds; frequently pull/push carts and lift/move up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, handle objects, communicate, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl as needed.

Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals possible.

Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
