General Summary of Position We are actively recruiting for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge to help lead our outpatient / retail pharmacy on the campus of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Responsible for evaluating drugs prescribed by physicians for appropriateness of dose, therapeutic efficacy, allergy, drug interaction, and contraindications; processes prescriptions through insurance company and handles DUR rejects, pre-authorizations, etc.; performs final check on all prescriptions, ensuring accurate input, labeling, and dispensing; and provides counseling and drug information to patients and physicians. Assumes full legal responsibility for the operation of the relevant pharmacy, including meeting all inspections and other requirements of the state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations. Provides day to day supervision of pharmacy operations, including assisting the operations managers with the performance management of the staff and problem resolution. Works in coordination with other managers and directors to achieve company-wide resource efficiencies and process improvement initiatives.
