Location: Kent Campus Hospital. Status: Per Diem 0 Hours. Shift: Nights. Salary range note: 58.92 - 91.32 HOURLY.
General Summary
Health Care Professional responsible for safe, effective, timely medication distribution and administration. Provides Specialty Pharmacy services, consistent with policies and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Medication/Solution Order Review – Review prescriber’s orders for appropriateness relative to the patient’s condition, height, weight, and age; ensure compliance with legal requirements, institutional policies and procedures, and drug use restrictions as determined by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Medical Executive Committee.
- Medication/Solution Order Processing – Utilize the Pharmacy Information System for allergy review, drug interactions, dosage checks, IV compatibility, and related screenings to facilitate accurate and timely medication distribution and administration.
- Intervention Documentation – Document interventions using approved tools (Safety-First Reporting, Medication Errors/Near-miss Reporting).
- Technician and ancillary staff supervision – Review medications prepared by technicians for distribution; monitor adherence to policies and procedures; review preparation of intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy and sterile products.
- Drug Information Resource – Provide drug information to medical and ancillary staff; research dosages, indications, interactions, compatibility, and administration as requested.
- Renal Dosing Support – Review orders for renal status and adjust dosages per policy; participate in renal dose adjustments per policy.
- Departmental Performance Improvement Participation – Participate in quality control and documentation; monitor narcotics, near-misses, and safety reporting.
- Education Resource – Conduct staff development and provide educational services to pharmacy staff, students, residents, nursing staff, physicians, and other professionals.
- Performs other duties as assigned; maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding pharmacy practice and controlled substances.

Education: Bachelor Degree Pharmacy - Credential(s): Licensed Pharmacist

- Experience: Preferred: One year hospital experience
