Your day to day life
We are looking for a Courier in Amarillo, TX. Your mission will be to travel to various dairy facilities to pick milk samples. The position requires a safe and stable driving record and the ability to drive in all weather conditions for extended periods. Facility operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Flexible scheduling is required.
Responsibilities
- The incumbent must exhibit safe driving skills and maintain a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.
- Pick up samples from clients at the arranged time and deliver to the laboratory.
- Provide courteous client service and communicate any emerging client requirements to the laboratory as needed.
- Ensure departmental Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times.
- Check samples regularly to ensure the correct temperature is maintained.
- Maintain records of mileage, vehicle maintenance and other important information for departmental records.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and maintenance as required.
- Run errands for laboratory personnel to support timely analysis.
- May assist laboratory personnel with preparation and analysis of samples and washing of laboratory equipment.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
- Adhere to all safety policies and perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle with safe driving skills. Client relations skills are essential for deliveries. Time management and the ability to maintain the safety and integrity of samples are important. High school diploma or GED or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience with routine delivery procedures. Ability to handle delays due to traffic, unready samples, or mechanical issues. Knowledge of the geographic area and the ability to follow supervisor guidance to solve problems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Delivery vehicle operation for most of the day; exposure to environmental conditions of each delivery location.
- Lifting of up to 50-pound sample loads for daily deliveries.
- Occasional work in a laboratory environment with PPE as required (mask, lab coat, gloves).
- Possible exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials.
- Extended periods of sitting.
