Primary Purpose of Job

The Fitness Trainers, under the supervision of the Fitness Center Director and Assistant Director, are key staff responsible for the safety and comfort of all JCC members and guests using the fitness facilities. They are available to coach JFIT classes (HIIT). Staff must ensure all fitness facilities are in excellent condition, equipment is performing in state-of-the-art condition, and must be friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and available to members at all times. Hours vary as needed.

About the Phil Sokolof Fitness Center

The Phil Sokolof Fitness Center is available for all members, 13 and older, and includes state-of-the-art weight and aerobic equipment, spinning, Pilates, aerobic and dance studios, and an indoor running/walking track. Other fitness facilities include an indoor pool, an Olympic-size outdoor pool, a gymnasium with two basketball courts, two outdoor basketball courts, two racquetball courts, and pickleball.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Related Field
  2. ACE, NSCA, or ACSM Certified
  3. Employee Assistance Program

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Promote the benefits of Personal Training to all members and guests by:
    1. Being available to members at all times by your physical presence on the Fitness Center floor
    2. Interacting with members on a friendly basis to ensure their comfort
    3. Welcoming them as they enter the facility or visiting with them while working out
    4. Performing Orientations for all new members of the JCC, which may include assisting the Fitness Center Director in making calls to new members to encourage them to make an appointment for their orientation
    5. Performing Fitness Assessments that include a health history, body composition measurements, flexibility measurements, muscular strength and endurance measurements, and aerobic capacity as designated by the Fitness Center Director. Interpreting results to implement an appropriate fitness program

Hours will be 5:00 am to 1:00 pm. (Flexible)
