Job Summary

The gym leadership team is comprised of the Gym Director, Assistant Gym Director, and department managers. They ensure the gym functions smoothly, staff are supported, and our Core Values are upheld to provide an excellent member experience. The Fitness Program Manager (FPM) will report to the Gym Director of their home gym. This individual is the point-person for the range of Fitness offerings at their gym and will be part of a team of community-oriented climbing, yoga, and fitness enthusiasts focused on creating special experiences for members and guests. The ideal candidate balances teaching and leadership with strong administrative and organizational abilities, seeing both the big picture and daily details necessary for success as a Fitness Program Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an instructor group and class offerings that excite and challenge both seasoned athletes and newer participants.
  • Recruit and lead fitness instructors, manage offerings and programming, and maintain the department to ensure growth and quality.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure fitness offerings complement other gym offerings and support occasional gym-wide events.
  • Ensure instructors are properly certified and up to date with trainings and CEUs.
  • Teach and sub fitness classes as needed at home gym(s).
  • Organize specialized workshops relevant to the local community.
  • Create scheduling protocols and manage the scheduling system.
  • Organize fitness instructor meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure the quality and cleanliness of the Fitness space and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Current certification in Group Exercise Instruction and/or Certified Personal Trainer from a nationally recognized organization.
  • 2+ years of group fitness instructor experience.
  • Innovative, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Passion for group fitness, leading others in the craft, and an interest in climbing.
  • Commitment to Movement's mission to create community, share passion, and inspire philanthropy, and alignment with core values of Innovation, Partnership, Passion, Integrity, and Inclusion.

Additional experience preferred:

  • 5+ years of fitness instructor experience.
  • Experience in fitness or wellness studio management, or similar experience.
  • Experience as a personal trainer and/or experience managing a team of instructors and personal trainers.

Additional Information

This is a part-time hourly position with a starting pay rate of $24.75 per hour, which may be flexible depending on experience and certifications. Administrative hours are approximately 5-10 per week. Group Fitness Class instructor pay rate offered additionally. Opportunity to take on personal training clients.
