Description
Position Summary: Adaptive Fitness Coach Program Coordinator-Adaptive Fitness Part-Time: Non-Exempt. The Adaptive Fitness Coach, reporting to the Program Coordinator of Adaptive Fitness, will provide one on one support to our members in the Adaptive Fitness Program. This program targets individuals with severe spinal cord injury or neuro trauma, focusing on structured exercise routines with adaptive fitness equipment. Responsibilities include working one on one with our clients at the Oak Square location in Brighton, supporting scheduling of client’s day to day, and keeping detailed records of performance for everyone. They\'ll tailor safe, effective regimens for each member and provide high quality engagement to ensure smooth integration into our fitness facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the successful execution of the YMCA of Greater Boston’s strategic imperatives to be a charity, partner, and employer of choice; create a transformative Y Experience that builds loyal members, energizes employees and volunteers, inspires donors and stimulates growth and innovation.
- Drive program success in areas including Performance Achievement: maintain high engagement with each member and detailed records to ensure a safe and effective fitness experience.
- Provide Customer Service and Experience: create a welcoming environment, guide members through the program, and integrate them into the fitness floors.
- Direct Service: engage with members through program sites; assist in building out exercise routines for each participant and ensure compliance and support for everyone; build connections to increase retention and engagement.
- Respond promptly to member feedback and center concerns.
- Operational Effectiveness: uphold cleanliness and safety standards; communicate safety concerns, facility or equipment maintenance issues to the appropriate team members.
- Member Engagement: schedule sessions using Appointment King and adapt to additional scheduling platforms to support members.
- Collaboration: work with other departments and Center leadership.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education/Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Active, Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification
- Willingness to obtain an ACSM Adaptive Exercise Certification
- CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications
- At least 1 year of experience in physical therapy, exercise physiology, or with adaptive populations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge and experience of training for adaptive populations
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) and internet literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and manage time effectively
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments
- Knowledge of best practices related to adaptive fitness programs
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs.
Work Environment/Schedule:
- Moderate noise level in work environment
- Some evening work and flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and holidays
