Job Summary
The Group Fitness Instructor is a member of the Browns Fit team and plays a key role in the company’s overall success. The Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) will prepare and lead a fun, safe and effective group class based on the class description, offering modifications for less experienced or more experienced clients as needed. The instructor will represent the club in a positive manner, greeting the clients as they enter and leave class.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position. Your daily schedule will vary throughout the week depending on the needs of the club, the staff, and the members.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and lead a fun, safe and effective class for all levels of participation based on the class description.
- Begin and end classes on time per the monthly schedule.
- Maintain an electronic record of classes taught or subbed, including attendance numbers.
- Secure substitute teachers when needed and notify the Group Fitness Director of substitutes as early as possible.
- Notify the club if running late and arrange for management to notify the class.
- Teach what is scheduled; if members want something different, inform the GFD so a class can be added.
- Uphold Browns Fit brand standards and communicate in a positive manner.
- Keep studios orderly and prepared for each class.
- Arrive 5 minutes early for all classes to prepare the room and greet clients.
Qualifications and Experience
- A passion for health and wellness and the ability to influence people in overcoming obstacles to exercising, joining a fitness club, and making lifestyle changes.
- Enjoy networking and building relationships; comfortable on the phone and in community outreach.
- Commitment to providing top-notch customer service; some experience in a fast-paced customer service role is preferred.
- Computer-savvy and proficient in Word & Excel.
- Team player who approaches challenges creatively and positively.
- Experience in a sales environment focused on attaining revenue and unit goals is a plus.
