Overview
Forklift Operator II is responsible for operating material handling equipment for moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and may also perform order filler or order checker duties in addition to their own. This position involves operating multiple types of forklift equipment and working within a rack warehouse environment. The operator must be able to operate sit-down/standup, clamp, cherry picker and reach equipment. Forklift certification is required on at least three pieces of equipment. The role requires spending fifty percent or more of time operating these types of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using sit-down/standup, clamp, cherry and/or reach equipment (50% of service time).
- Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations.
- Pulls and prepares products for shipment.
- Ensures that the exact number and type of product are loaded and shipped.
- Performs picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
- Moves product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
- Operates all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
- Maintains appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security.
- Assists in physical inventories and cycle counts as requested.
- Ensures proper stock rotation and reports inventory discrepancies to inventory control team.
- Completes inspection forms prior to operating equipment and uses RF scanning equipment to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Excel and general computer knowledge; ability to report safety concerns to management in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- At least 1 year forklift experience and/or experience with warehouse distribution equipment.
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and lift/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching; able to access all areas of the building.
- Ability to work in environments with variable noise, lighting, and temperature; able to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Attention to detail, good customer service skills and basic math skills.
