The Modification Technician will perform a variety of operations as needed to complete the manufacturing of products and finished goods.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for final assembly, repair, and modification of forklifts
- Install uprights and various attachments and options on forklifts
- Occasional welding tasks
- Occasional painting and prep duties
- Prepare trucks for final shipment to customer (painting, decaling, verifying options and specs on truck to ensure it matches with order.
- Rework various parts to accommodate forklift requirements
- Duties will include troubleshooting, inspection, testing and repairing
- Perform Quality Inspection on material handling equipment
- Maintain records of repairs and complete all necessary paperwork associated with the documentation of all service and repairs.
- Must perform all duties within production schedule and in accordance with engineering, quality and production standards.
- Must perform all duties with minimal errors and in a safe manner.
- Will provide back up support to other departments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of electrical and/or gas automotives systems, pneumatics and hydraulics systems;
- Minimum one-year experience in complex repair & assembly on Forklifts and or other heavy machinery
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Must score at least 70% on the CLARK Complex Assembly Test
- Good mechanical aptitude is a must.
- Position will require working overtime
- Must have basic welding and painting knowledge
- Must have forklift operator experience
- Basic computer skills and ability to read blueprints
- Must be motivated and able to work in a self directed environment
- Attend scheduled training classes
- Responsible for meeting all safety requirements and policies and maintain a safe work environment
- Participate in the 5s program and maintain a neat, organized and safe work area
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and initiatives
Physical / Environmental Conditions:
The position is exposed to the warehouse distribution and distribution environment which is described as follows:
May encounter loud noise, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the operation of equipment. Various machinery and equipment may generate loud noise and vibration. The incumbent may come into contact with oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials. The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast moving machinery, such as forklift trucks.
