Position Summary:

House Physician has a limited

medical practice. They may only practice while employed under the direct

supervision of an MD or DO. The supervising physician must be a member of the

Karmanos Cancer Center Active Medical Staff.

Applicants for this

position must have one of the following: Be a graduate of an Allopathic US

Medical School of a school recognized and approved by the US Office of

Education

OR

Be a graduate of an

allopathic international medical school.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, record and maintain sensitive patientinformation such as examination results, medical history and reports.

  • Provide patient care that is compassionate,appropriate and effective for the treatment of health problems and thepromotion of health.

  • Diagnosis, work-up management and treatment ofdefinitive cancers, recurrent and metastatic cancers, and post-operativetreatment of patients

  • Effectively communicate and demonstrate a caringand respectful behavior when interacting with patients and their families

  • Gather essential information about their patients

  • Make informed decisions about diagnostic andtherapeutic interventions based on patient information, preferences,recent scientific evidence and clinical judgement.

  • Perform competently all medical and invasiveprocedures considered essential for the area of practice.

  • Develop and carry out patient management plans.

  • Use information technology to support patientcare decisions and patient education.

  • Assist in providing health care services aimed atpreventing health problems and maintaining health.

  • Work with other health care professionalsincluding those from other disciplines to provide patient focused care.

  • Counsel patients with assistance regardingtreatment options and obtaining informed consent.

  • Respond to after-hours calls from patients athome, and advise appropriate action.

  • Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • License topractice medicine (MD or DO) in the State of Michigan.

  • Able to work aflexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
