Overview
Oakton College Health Careers Education Center (HCEC) Manager oversees day‑to‑day operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. This role involves coordinating facility services, managing personnel, and collaborating with various departments to support the institution's mission and strategic goals. Location: Oakton Health Careers Education Center, Evanston, IL.

Responsibilities
Facility Oversight
- Manage and supervise the maintenance and operations of HCEC rooms/areas, including office space, labs, classrooms, and lounge.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors/vendors regarding space utilization, deliveries, and repairs.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Budget Management
- Assist in the development and management of the HCEC office budget.
- Monitor expenditures and allocate financial resources efficiently.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for facility‑related incidents.
- Coordinate with campus security and local emergency services to ensure safety protocols.
Communication
- Serve as the first point of contact for students, visitors, phone calls, and emails, providing information and assistance.
- Serve as the first point of contact with building management for service requests as needed.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary contact for facility‑related inquiries from faculty, staff, and students.
- Collaborate with academic departments to align facility needs with academic schedules and events.
- Participate in campus planning and development meetings to represent facility interests.
Sustainability Initiatives
- Promote and implement sustainability practices within facility operations.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and waste reduction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in facilities management, business administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in office management with personnel supervision responsibilities.
- Experience in facilities management in a higher education setting is preferred.
- Proven experience in team leadership and project management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and maintenance best practices (Preferred).
Working Conditions
- The Manager will work primarily at the Health Careers Education Center and may be required to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours. Travel to Des Plaines or Skokie campus may be required.
- Light lifting up to 20 lbs. and light carrying up to 20 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move between buildings and campuses. Occasional lifting and moving of equipment may be necessary.

- Supervision Received: Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Dean of Health Careers.
- Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision over the Health Career Education Center Administrative Support Specialist and student employees.
- Salary: $60,189
