Required Qualifications
- One year of recent CNA experience
- Valid CNA registration in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) or CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Other certifications may be required depending on facility requirements
Summary
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and works alongside nurses and healthcare teams to support patients with their daily needs. They help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, and mobility, while monitoring patient conditions to ensure well-being.
Essential Work Functions
- Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Provide mobility assistance (repositioning, transfers, ambulation)
- Assist with feeding and meal support for patients with dietary needs or restrictions
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Offer emotional support and companionship to patients and families
- Document patient care and observations accurately and timely
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and healthcare regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficient in basic computer skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment, push/pull, and bend
- Team-oriented and professional attitude
- Fine motor skills and ability to assist with procedures and equipment
- Mental alertness to manage deadlines and adapt to schedules
- Visual acuity and effective communication skills
