Responsibilities

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake as a PRN CNA working in our Med Surg unit. You'll enjoy working casual as needed.

The Certified Nursing Assistant contributes to positive patient experiences by performing nursing care tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, facilitating communication, and providing general clerical and administrative assistance to the unit. This position supports the mission, vision, and core values of CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake.

You'll thrive in this role by assisting with exceptional care for patients of all ages (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics) with activities of daily living.

What you'll do...

• Provide basic nursing care within scope of practice and according to age-specific needs, including bathing, hygiene, feeding, elimination needs, and patient activities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan and provide age-appropriate care.
• Perform nursing data collection such as vital signs, weights, intake and output, and glucose readings, reporting irregularities promptly.
• Participate in care plan implementation, distribute water, meal trays, and snacks, and collect specimens following proper procedures.
• Assist designated personnel with procedures, treatments, or examinations as required.
• Use equipment properly and safely, report malfunctions, and assist with maintenance of supplies and cleanliness of the unit and patient rooms.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights.
• Maintain floor stock supplies and assist in keeping the unit and patient areas clean.
• Perform duties in a timely manner, complying with standards of care and departmental policies.
• Assist in OB unit with cleaning instruments, supplies, and equipment post-procedures.
• Support postpartum mother and infant care under supervision of OB nurse.

Qualifications

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in North Dakota.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Preferred

• Computer experience.

Pay Range

$15.56 - $21.40 per hour
