Job Description
Job Title: Security Manager
Position Summary
The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing all security operations to protect hotel property, assets, guests, visitors, and employees, while ensuring exceptional guest service and contributing to overall profitability. This role leads and develops a high-performing security team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and organizational standards.
Pay Rate -$ 70,000 - $80,000
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
Direct all security functions, including goal setting, staffing, scheduling, performance management, training, and development.
Hire, onboard, coach, and supervise security staff; conduct evaluations, and administer corrective actions when necessary.
Participate in leadership and safety committees, ensuring the department aligns with organizational goals.
Monitor departmental budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
Safety & Security Oversight
Conduct regular property patrols to ensure the safety of all individuals and protection of hotel assets.
Respond to incidents involving guests or employees; ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
Ensure team members follow all security procedures including investigations, report writing, and guest interactions.
Manage building access, alarm systems, fire safety equipment, and conduct regular emergency system tests.
Training & Compliance
Chair or co-chair the Safety Committee; lead monthly safety meetings and ongoing training initiatives.
Ensure all team members complete mandatory safety and compliance training.
Oversee and enforce OSHA, HAZMAT, PPE, and MSDS standards and documentation.
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety and security regulations.
Act as a key responder for emergency situations; lead or support crisis management and emergency response.
Maintain and update the property’s emergency procedures manual.
Handle and investigate all incident and guest liability claims; coordinate with insurance providers for resolution.
Oversee Lost & Found protocols; ensure accuracy in tracking, storage, and guest communication.
Customer Service & Communication
Resolve guest complaints and defuse high-tension situations with tact and professionalism.
Collaborate with all departments to support safety and guest satisfaction.
Maintain strong relationships with local police, fire, and emergency services.
Serve as a point of contact for external agencies as needed.
Administrative & Other Duties
Review and analyze incident, safety, and guest satisfaction reports.
Approve scheduling, manage timecards, and ensure staffing levels support business needs.
Oversee fleet and vehicle compliance, including registration and maintenance.
Attend and actively participate in all required management and departmental meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall hotel operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a security role, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong leadership and team development skills.
In-depth understanding of hotel security challenges, policies, and relevant local/federal laws.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and security systems; ability to use hotel software and incident management tools.
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
Certifications
CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire).
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for long periods; may require running in emergencies.
Frequent use of hands for data entry, radio operation, and equipment handling.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 250 lbs in emergency situations.
Requires visual acuity for security monitoring, reporting, and vehicle operation.
Work involves both indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather.
May be exposed to noise, dust, odors, and electrical hazards
