Overview
As a Security Engineer at Strata, you will install, administer, and optimize security tools to achieve and maintain a mature security posture for all business applications. You will be a member of Strata's Security and Compliance team, ensuring Strata has the correct security measures in place and providing continuous improvement opportunities to extend capabilities and security to client data. The role supports a hybrid environment with on‑premise and cloud infrastructure in the US and EU.
Responsibilities
- Manage SIEM and evaluate current SIEM architecture and performance; lead improvements in how the tool is leveraged and deployed
- Maintain relationships with Strata’s MSSP and SIEM vendor to push for feature enhancements and value
- Respond to alerts generated by the SIEM and MSSP
- Identify opportunities to create run books and extend SOAR capabilities
- Apply security tools to ensure security across the environment
- EDR/MDR, web content filtering, and user identity and access management
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware
- Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions
- Be a member of Strata’s Computer Security Incident Response Team to identify threats and investigate security events
- Monitor systems for irregular behavior and implement preventive measures
- Support Senior Engineers and contribute to various security projects
- Collect and provide audit evidence to support certification efforts
What we’re looking for
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a SOC or similar security role
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve issues across multiple locations and systems
- Familiarity with technologies such as SIEM administration, antivirus tooling, and security assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, BURP, NMAP); not all areas required to be mastered
- Time management and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new principles
Estimated Salary Range
Estimated salary range: $89,000–$105,000. Actual salary will be determined based on factors including skill set and experience. Strata provides discretionary variable pay programs and a comprehensive benefits package including retirement, health and welfare benefits, paid time off, parental leave, life and accident insurance, and other voluntary well-being benefits.
How we work
The preferred location for this role is Chicago, IL or St. Louis, MO. We maintain a true hybrid environment with campuses and in-person events in both cities; team members have flexibility to work from home.
