Overview

Security Engineer II - Cloud Security at Datadog. The Security Research team creates and ships security detection content for Datadog’s cloud security products, collaborating across teams and with the security community.

What You’ll Do

  • Continuously learn about detecting attack paths, identity risks, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities in cloud-native environments and contribute to a high-quality cloud security product.
  • Leverage Open Policy Agent (OPA) to build and maintain contextualized detections for CSPM and Infrastructure-As-Code detection products using OPA’s Rego language; test detections end-to-end with Terraform.
  • Develop risk relationships between a variety of cloud-native technologies serving our Cloud Security Graph.
  • Model cloud-native technical controls across governmental and commercial compliance frameworks and security benchmarks to help customers achieve compliant and secure cloud configurations.
  • Partner with product management, engineering, security research, and customers to develop content roadmaps for cloud security and compliance concerns.
  • Identify and drive efficiencies in content development through tooling and automation; shepherd platform issues impacting content development and user experience to completion.
  • Evangelize the Datadog security brand through blog posts, documentation, webinars, and workshops; present at conferences to highlight challenges and successes.

Who You Are

  • Background in cloud security engineering, detection engineering, or related field.
  • Experience operating in at least one public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and other cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
  • Understanding of modern cloud-native attacker techniques and familiar with technical controls to prevent and detect these attacks.
  • Understanding of compliance and security frameworks and benchmarks mapped to technical controls (e.g., CSPM).
  • Basic proficiency with Golang and Python.
  • Experience measuring the effectiveness of security controls to inform data-driven decisions.
