The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for substitute security workers. Applications will be reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Candidates must be eligible for appointment as Security Worker, as per the rules and regulations of the Monroe County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service.

Applicants must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment for the NYS Education Department before employment begins.

Civil Service: Non-Competitive

Duties:

• Provide per-diem/substitute security worker duties under direct supervision of the Senior Security Worker and Director of Security.
• Patrol school buildings to ensure a safe and secure building environment, as well as the personal safety of students, staff, and visitors.
• Provides for the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and School District property in accordance with school policies to provide an educational climate which is conducive to learning.
• Conduct ongoing security patrols of the building(s).
• Enforce Board of Education policies, the Code of Conduct, and other school rules and regulations.
• Support and assist building and district administrators when responding to an emergency.
• Report concerns and incidents which may require corrective action.
• Monitor exits and prevent unauthorized exits of the building by students.
• Assist investigations as assigned by supervisor.
• Physically separate students involved in altercations and maintain crowd control as needed.
• Monitor grounds to prevent loitering and improper parking of vehicles.
• Use radio and/or electronic communications equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. Experience as a security guard or security officer may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. *Candidates must take and pass the next available Civil Service exam in order to maintain eligibility for employment as security worker.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with students K-12, ability to work with students, staff, and the public, willingness to work additional hours as needed, willingness to work an alternative work day schedule as required to support educational and district program needs.

Special Requirements: Current registration as a Security Guard with the New York State Department of State.

Salary/Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour for licensed security guards, $25.00 per hour for active/retired law enforcement.
