Presbyterian is seeking a Security Technician to provide security for patients, employees, visitors, and all those who come in contact with PHS. Have a working knowledge of security equipment and systems as required. Perform hazard and risk surveillance in conjunction with security program execution.

Ideal Candidate

Less than one year experience in general security; however, 1 year security experience preferred.

Must possess effective communication and written documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Must possess effective communication and written documentation skills.
  • Must be able to perform all requirements and training of a security technician.
  • Must be able to demonstrate familiarization with hospital locations and operations within 6 months of hire.
  • All facilities require the ability to drive a company-owned vehicle.
  • Must have a current New Mexico driver's license and be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

Education Essential: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and ad hoc patrols of hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized visitors.
  • Conduct hazard surveillance for safety, security, and infection control issues.
  • Interact and professionally manage issues with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, vendors, and all contacts with PHS.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies as required and approved by PHS.
  • Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assistance, and escorts promptly.
  • Control parking and traffic flow, enforce parking policies, and issue citations as needed.
  • Monitor visitor conduct on hospital premises; confront possible unauthorized persons for questioning as necessary.
  • This position requires heavy lifting of 50 pounds or more for over 33% of shifts, especially when self-defense is necessary.
  • Assist with lifting patients, visitors, and staff when required.
  • Assist in lifting deceased persons if needed.
  • Assist medical staff in restraining violent, agitated, or hostile individuals.
  • Capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
