SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Security Dispatcher in our Security department. This full-time position will work rotating days, evenings, and nights. Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the operation of a central alarm station using computers and various communications equipment, initiating proper response for emergency and non-emergency situations. RESPONSIBILITIES * Receive emergency and non-emergency calls for security service and medical assistance * Prioritize calls and initiate appropriate action based on incident type and importance * Contact police, fire, ambulance in emergency situations and coordinate proper response * Dispatch security officers or other personnel using two-way radio or telephone * Operate and monitor a wide range of moderately complex computer driven equipment, including * systems for life/safety, security alarm, closed circuit television and building automations * Query callers to obtain detailed incident information, record duties and activities * Generate reports, maintain records, and perform data entry functions * Operate multi-line telephone system * Notify appropriate managers or supervisors of critical conditions on a 24-hour basis * Performs other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma, GED or equivalent * 2+ years dispatch or communications experience in a busy, high-stress environment -OR- * An approved equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications: * Prior experience in a health care setting You've made the right choice in considering Hennepin Healthcare for your employment.
