As part of an alliance with Kiewit Nuclear Canada and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario, Aecon will support the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site starting in 2025. This role is responsible for implementing and overseeing security programs on DNNP, managing a team of security professionals, and collaborating with different departments to ensure compliance with security standards.

What You’ll Do Here: (Responsibilities)

• Define, develop, and implement security programs and strategies aligned with project standards.
• Identify security risks and gaps on the project and implement processes to address them.
• Oversee the implementation of security policies and procedures to ensure validation and effectiveness.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of security professionals on security processes and culture.
• Manage incident reporting and response, including communication with the team and required documentation.
• Support auditing processes by preparing security documentation and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Continually assess and improve the existing security program.
• Verify on-site activities and security requirements through regular audits (including workers under exemption and visitors).
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, external partners, and other departments.
• Other tasks as needed.

What You Bring to the Team: (Qualifications)

• Minimum 8 years of experience in a security management role.
• Valid Ontario Security/Guard License preferred.
• Experience security on industrial sites (oil & gas, chemical, etc.).
• Strong understanding of security principles and practices.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience on construction sites is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Organizational and time-management skills.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
