Security Officer Position

Location: Norfolk, VA

Work Shift: Third (Nights)

Overview: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is currently hiring a Security Officer. This is a full-time, night shift position.

Hours / Shift: Full-time, Night Shift

Job Qualifications:

• 1-year related experience required
• Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred
• Driver's license required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Skills required: active listening, communication, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, Microsoft Office, service orientation, speaking, writing

To ensure safety and security, Sentara requires a Fit for Duty assessment, which includes:

1. Response walk
2. Stair climb
3. Drag to safety
4. Lift

All candidates must pass this assessment, administered by the hiring/security leader and Employee Health, before receiving an offer.

The Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by patrolling campus, monitoring activity, responding to incidents, conducting surveillance, maintaining logs, documenting activities, and evaluating situations for appropriate resolution.
