Description
Job Title: Security Lead
Position Function: The Security Lead is directly responsible to the Supervisor, Security Department. The primary function is planning, organizing, and implementing shift security personnel duties.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Schedule assignments and overtime requests of security personnel and monitor their activities.
- Perform duties of a Security Officer as needed.
- Conduct routine and emergency building checks, respond to alarms, notify personnel, and prepare incident reports.
- Plan and conduct training programs for USD 259 staff.
- Evaluate security patrol and dispatch personnel and support disciplinary actions.
- Take primary responsibility for personnel assignments during emergencies or leaves.
- Conduct uniform inspections of assigned personnel.
- Provide assistance to the department as needed.
- Assist in all routine and emergency situations involving USD 259 properties, personnel, and students.
- Provide on-the-job training for newly hired officers.
- Maintain inventory of Safety Services equipment.
- Occasionally work as the primary supervisor at special events.
Additional Duties
Assist with additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Equipment
This position may require using SMART boards and iPads, in addition to basic office equipment. Must comply with USD 259's equipment use guidelines.
Travel
Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.
Physical And Mental Demands
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, and move around freely and quickly.
- Overtime may be required during emergencies or crises.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of computers and basic office equipment.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during crises.
- Knowledge of law enforcement industry.
- Ability to work independently and professionally.
- Organizational skills and professionalism.
- Understanding of company’s mission and goals.
Qualifications

Qualification Profile
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in business or law enforcement.
- Training in USD 259 LDP, diversity, and crisis prevention/intervention preferred.
