Rainmaker Entertainment Inc is hiring: Security Engineer in El Segundo

Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution. We are seeking our first dedicated security engineer to establish and implement our security program as we scale our cloud seeding operations globally. The Role You'll build security into the foundation of our systems as we expand from early operations to global deployment. This role combines hands-on technical work with program development, requiring someone who can both configure firewalls and write security policies. As our first security hire, you'll own the setup of foundational InfoSec and IT infrastructure. You'll secure everything from our atmospheric modeling infrastructure to our fleet of autonomous aircraft. What You'll Do Design and implement security architecture for our operational platform, including auth/RBAC systems and API security Establish security standards for our edge computing network of ground stations and aircraft systems Work closely with our R&D teams to build security into projects from the ground up Build monitoring and incident response capabilities across cloud infrastructure and field deployments Own core IT infrastructure including Google Workspace administration, device management, and access provisioning Develop security policies and procedures appropriate for a rapidly scaling hardware/software company Implement compliance frameworks for aviation, environmental, and data protection regulations Secure our scientific data pipeline from collection through analysis and long-term storage Create security training and awareness programs for engineers, operators, and field personnel Manage vendor security assessments and third-party integrations (NetSuite, Ramp, cloud providers) Design secure communication protocols for aircraft-to-ground and station-to-station networks Required Qualifications 3+ years in security engineering roles with experience building security programs Strong technical background in cloud security, network security, and application security Experience securing IoT/OT environments or distributed edge computing systems Track record of implementing security in fast-moving engineering organizations Hands-on experience with security tooling (SIEM, vulnerability scanning, secrets management) Ability to balance security requirements with operational needs Preferred Technical Background Cloud security architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure) Infrastructure as code and secure CI/CD pipelines Network security and zero-trust architectures Cryptography and PKI implementation Python or similar for security automation $140,000 - $190,000 a year When applying, please share examples of security programs or initiatives you\'ve built, particularly in organizations with distributed infrastructure or operational technology.
