The Night Audit Supervisor is responsible for reconciling all hotel cashier transactions; reviewing, organizing and compiling management reports on a timely basis and ensuring the accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions. The role also ensures that all daily reports are generated, daily revenues are balanced, express checkouts are processed efficiently and guests needing assistance during the shift are accommodated. The Night Audit Supervisor provides the management team with accurate and reliable information needed to make effective operational decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
  • Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving them as necessary.
  • Understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
  • Cross-train in other hotel-related areas, when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and show initiative to anticipate guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Perform guest services functions as required (check guests in/out, take reservations, upsell/call backs, etc.).
  • Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports; prepare and distribute daily reports (e.g., Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, Tax Reports) according to hotel standards.
  • Audit and reconcile Front Desk and Food & Beverage Cashier’s work; audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit cards timely.
  • Keep management informed of unusual operational or financial events and deviations from policies or procedures.
  • Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments.
  • Complete and ensure that routine shift tasks (bucket checks, room rate verification, housekeeping reports) are accurately done and filed.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction and handle complaints, disturbances, or emergencies during shift.
  • Monitor and prepare Night Audit reports in line with Highgate requirements; assist in month-end reports (in-house movie reports, house account summaries, phone summaries, etc.).
  • Ensure all shift checklists are completed in a timely and efficient manner and handle special guest requests.
  • Be familiar with and assist in all emergency procedures as required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • College coursework in related field helpful.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • Flexible with long hours; ability to work late/overnight shifts.
  • Sedentary work – ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and to move objects as needed.
