Overview

The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. Shift: Monday to Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Hourly compensation: $15.00.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles in all designated areas
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces (e.g., woodwork, stainless steel)
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to cleaning areas
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, and perform seasonal outdoor tasks as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms
• Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
• Preferred: prior customer service experience; one year of similar work experience
