Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.

• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Effective communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• Any retail experience
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
• Ability to promote trust and respect among associates
• Ability to create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products
• Knowledge of products sold within the department and ability to respond to questions and make suggestions
• Ability to recommend grocery items and inform customers of grocery specials
• Check product quality, freshness and sell-by dates; take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products as ordered
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
• Notify management of accidents, safety risks or illegal activity
