Hours: M-F; 1:30pm-10:00pm. FTE: 1.000. Start date: 2025-2026 School Year.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine custodial work in maintaining the cleanliness of school buildings and surrounding grounds. Receives classroom and hands-on training in the use of cleaning tools, equipment and supplies, and safety and personal protection necessary to perform custodial work.
• Clean the cafeteria after each lunch bell; clean tables, realign chairs, mop cafeteria.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms, hallways, and around school grounds; clean up spills.
• Dump trash in classrooms, clean chalkboards, sweep classroom floors, dust rooms, and set classrooms up for the next day.
• Wash desks, move classroom furniture (including stairs), and set up for PTA events, special events, and meetings.
• Vacuum floors, shampoo carpets, wash walls, fix lockers, wash windows and graffiti, and clean bathroom stalls.
• Mop bathrooms and wax hallway and classroom floors; secure and lock classrooms and exterior doors at the end of the day.
• Clean the teacher’s lounge; perform related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and school staff; basic ability to read and speak/understand English.

Education and Experience

• Required: GED or some high school.
• Preferred: High School Diploma. Some custodial experience.

Physical Requirements

• Regular and sustained use of senses to communicate and interact with others.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, grasping, repetitive motion, reaching; occasional stooping, balancing, crouching, kneeling, and fingering.
• Working around dirt, dust, fumes, odors, vibrations, chemicals, and moving mechanical parts; exposure to loud noises.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and over 50 pounds rarely.
• Timely and regular adherence to established work schedules. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.

Special Requirements

• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
