JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, this position provides classroom instruction and course supervision within the designated department. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality lectures and labs, developing program curricula, and supporting student success through effective use of the college’s Learning Management System. Promote the program, build and maintain industry partnerships, coordinate advisory board meetings, and contribute to continuing education and workforce training initiatives. Engages in community outreach, fosters an inclusive learning environment, and upholds the college’s mission to deliver workforce-ready education in technical and skilled trades. Professionalism, innovation, and adherence to academic standards and ethics are essential to this role.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver instruction for assigned drafting courses in accordance with course outlines, learning objectives, and institutional standards.
- Evaluate and grade student assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects in a timely and consistent manner.
- Submit final course grades along with grade justification sheets in compliance with college policies.
- Maintain scheduled office hours to provide academic support and advising to students.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment, promoting student engagement and academic success.
- Participate in department, division, and adjunct faculty meetings as required.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering.
- Architectural and Engineering Drafting experience is required.
- Extensive working experience using AutoCAD and other industry software.
- Ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of students from a culturally diverse student population.
- A willingness to make students active partners in the teaching and learning process.
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements for this position include: the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to safely lift, hold, and carry supplies and equipment needed for student training; manual dexterity and balance required for demonstrating applications; ability to stand or sit for extended periods, walk, bend, lift, reach, and stoop; ability to maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment; ability to demonstrate techniques while kneeling; vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception; excellent hand-eye coordination; ability to travel for supplies procurement; ability to demonstrate new methods and materials; adherence to safety standards.
