Position Overview

The CNC Lathe Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and inspecting precision parts produced on CNC lathes. This role requires a strong understanding of G-code, setup processes, and precision measurement to ensure quality on every part produced.

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC lathes for production runs using existing programs, modifying programs, or creating new ones as needed

  • Perform 100% inspection of each part directly off the machine to maintain strict quality standards

  • Operate Hardinge Super Precision machines with Fanuc controls, sub-spindles, and live tooling

  • Work with close tolerances and maintain high-quality standards throughout production

  • Adjust tooling, offsets, and machine settings for optimal performance

Required Qualifications

  • Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes (no milling duties)

  • Strong understanding of G-code

  • Proficient in the use of gage blocks, .0001 indicators, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment

  • Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mastercam experience

  • Background in manual machining

  • Familiarity with CNC mills (not required for this position)

  • Experience with surface grinding and cylindrical grinding

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems
