Summary of Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding production and facility equipment. This includes working with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. The role also supports preventive maintenance and assists in new equipment installations, while ensuring safety compliance at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain production, shipping, and facility equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks
- Support the installation and setup of new equipment
- Coordinate maintenance with production to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards and protocols
- Work with contractors as required
- Participate in additional projects and duties as assigned
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience
- Proficient with electrical systems (24V, 120–480V, single and three-phase)
- Familiarity with PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Direct Logic)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of OSHA safety protocols and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Skilled in the use of maintenance tools, including voltmeters and power tools
- Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG)
- Basic computer literacy (Windows-based systems)
- Must own essential maintenance tools
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Motors, servos, sensors, relays, DC drives
- Limit switches and solenoids
- Basic PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical field (or comparable with exp)
- Trade school certification or equivalent technical training
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 90% of shift)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and turning
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and operation in a manufacturing environment
- Exposure to forklift traffic, noise, and standard industrial conditions
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
