Position: Project Engineer Department: Engineering Reports to: Director of Strategic Initiatives Direct Reports: None Location: Belle Chasse, LA and Offshore Job Type: Full Time Introduction to the Role: The Project Engineer is a key member of the Engineering team, responsible for supporting the successful execution of complex, technical projects across the marine and offshore construction industry. This position focuses on planning, coordination, and technical problem-solving related to project engineering, including both office-based and offshore work. Operating under the direction of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Project Engineer collaborates closely with Project Management, Operations, HSE, Supply Chain, Design, and third-party contractors to ensure engineering standards, compliance, and efficiency across all phases of a project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both field and office environments and brings a strong foundation in engineering, systems thinking, and practical application. Summary of Essential Job Functions: Project Execution & Engineering Support: Assist with all phases of project implementation, including planning, scheduling, design review, procurement, and offshore execution. Coordinate technical engineering efforts across departments to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. Offshore & Onsite Support (Approx. 50% Travel): Perform offshore duties in support of installation, field testing, and onsite project coordination. Act as a liaison between engineering and field crews, documenting field issues and providing real-time technical support. Technical Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and review technical procedures, installation documentation, maintenance guides, and design changes for subsea equipment and installation hardware. Ensure procedures and specifications align with company and industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Design & Analysis: Conduct or review engineering calculations and schematics. Collaborate with Design Analysts and Drafters to support equipment and hardware development. Vendor & Equipment Coordination: Support vendor selection and equipment specification for subsea hardware and marine systems. Attend and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), System Integration Tests (SIT), and other critical QA/QC steps. Reporting & Field Feedback: Generate detailed field status reports and recommend technical solutions when issues arise. Track deliverables and milestones using project schedules and planning tools. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with project managers, operations, and engineering leadership to coordinate deliverables. Participate in change management processes and system implementation when applicable. Process Improvement & Lessons Learned: Capture lessons learned and suggest process improvements to reduce project risk and improve efficiency. Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Support special projects, bid preparation, and proposal development as directed by the Director of Strategic Initiatives. Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, planning, or technical project support Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Access Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems and engineering document control Experience with reading and interpreting technical schematics and blueprints Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in both office and offshore environments Prior experience in marine, oil & gas, or subsea installation projects preferred Understanding of engineering processes, standards, and compliance requirements Work Environment: The Project Engineer will split time between an office setting and offshore/on-site project environments, with an estimated 50% of time spent offshore. This position requires manual dexterity, physical stamina, and the ability to work in varying environmental conditions including hot, cold, dusty, and noisy areas.
