Haul Truck Driver

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Haul Truck Driver to support operations at the Mattaponi Quarry located in Aylett, Virginia. This position is primarily responsible to safely operate heavy-duty trucks to transport raw materials (such as rock, gravel, and other aggregates) within the quarry site.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Operate Haul Trucks to transport materials such as gravel, sand, or crushed stone within the quarry or plant site.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in safe working condition.
  • Follow all safety rules and site regulations while operating vehicles on quarry or plant property.
  • Load and unload materials, coordinating with equipment operators and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the truck, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Monitor truck gauges and fluid levels during operation and notify maintenance staff of any discrepancies.
  • Assist with general labor tasks around the site as needed when not driving.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: 6 months experience Preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate haul trucks safely and efficiently within the quarry, plant, or lumber yard environment.
  • Willingness to learn and follow all safety protocols and company policies related to haul truck operation.
  • Ability to perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, equipment operators, and team members.
  • Physical ability to climb in and out of trucks and handle general labor tasks as needed.
  • Preferred: Previous experience or background working in the lumber industry is a plus, but not required. Willingness to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and learning.


Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
