Overview
Are you interested in shaping the future of movies and streaming video? Do you want to define the next generation of how and what customers are watching? Amazon MGM Studios has an immediate opening for a Business Affairs Executive to work with the Amazon MGM Movies teams to help deliver innovative content.
This role will be responsible for structuring, negotiating, and drafting agreements for feature film projects across development, production, and acquisition. The Movies Business Affairs Executive will work closely with creative executives, production, legal, and finance teams to execute deals that support Amazon MGM's content strategy and business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong business judgment, and the ability to balance creative and business objectives while maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
This position is located in Culver City, California.
Key responsibilities
- Structure, negotiate, and draft development, rights acquisition, and talent agreements for feature film projects
- Handle negotiations for writer, director, actor, and producer deals
- Provide strategic guidance on deal terms and industry standards
- Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
- Collaborate with production counsel on production-related agreements
- Work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and creative teams
- Monitor and ensure compliance with studio policies and procedures
A day in the life
A typical day for a Movies Business Affairs Executive at Amazon MGM Studios involves juggling multiple high-stakes negotiations and contracts. The morning usually starts with team meetings and reviewing overnight deals. Throughout the day, they negotiate with talent agencies over actor or director deals, review rights agreements, and consult with creative executives on deal structures. They will coordinate with legal and finance teams, and draft deal memos. The role requires constant communication via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of studio, production company or television network experience
- 4+ years of entertainment industry deal negotiation experience
- Experience negotiating complex agreements with a firm understanding of legal terminology and reasoning
- Experience working for a production company, studio, or television network
- J.D., or MBA
- Experience in content negotiation, acquisition or business development

The base pay for this position ranges from $130,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $215,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on factors including market location and may vary with knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
