Overview
Strategic Account Manager, Grocery Partnerships JP (Amazon Fresh) conducts partner support for Amazon’s online grocery business, focusing on growth with domestic supermarket partners. The role leads the expansion of Amazon online grocery with strong ownership, performing data analysis on customer trends, KPI progress tracking, problem discovery, solution development, and strategy formation in collaboration with partners. You will negotiate and align interests with partners and internal stakeholders to implement pioneering programs and build business models that adapt to changing market conditions. As the primary Amazon contact for the partner, you will engage across marketing, operations, legal, and other internal teams to share information and coordinate effectively. You will also collaborate with colleagues expanding online grocery partnerships in other countries.

The Grocery Partnerships team seeks a customer-obsessed, creative, entrepreneurial and experienced Account Manager (Category Merchant Manager, CMM) to join our fast-paced team and contribute to our growth strategy. This role focuses on defining a business in its early stages, driving the Partner’s grocery business on Amazon, and building new business models and initiatives. You will program-manage a new initiative while managing day-to-day activities to meet targets, negotiate and deploy complex programs, develop and manage relationships, and analyze business and financial data. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Marketing, Product/Program, Finance and Legal to ensure service quality and sustainable growth. You must be an effective leader and communicator to deliver with partners while meeting deadlines and profitability goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering the best customer experience online and able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
Business planning: responsible for formulating and executing the business plan, communicating with internal leadership and the partner’s business contacts.
Partner strategy: strengthen relationships with partners, develop mid- to long-term strategy and execution, maximize business growth, and achieve revenue and profitability goals.
· P&L Owner: Responsible for building goals/targets and managing the Third Party Marketplace business for grocery. Communicate with internal leadership as well as the partner merchants.
· Account Strategy: Own the business account management, build short- and long-term strategy, maximize growth and ensure revenue/profitability goals are met.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in sales or new business development, or equivalent experience (e.g., management consulting, finance, merchandising, operations).
- Ability to operate strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills enabling trust at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and propose actionable solutions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Japanese; native level Japanese; business-level English.
- Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building relationships and driving growth with large partner companies or e-commerce businesses.
- Experience in e-commerce or retail.
- Experience with databases and SQL.
- Experience in the grocery/food industry.
