Position Details

- Est. Salary: $21.23-$26.01 DOE with potential increases for highly experienced candidates
- Bonus: $5,000 Hiring Bonus structure —
- At Hire: $1,500
- At 90 days: $2,000
- At 180 days: $1,500
- Bonus is pro-rated based on FTE
- Additional 4% differential for bilingual skills

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Maintain patient medical records and update medical history and vital signs as needed
- Conduct complete patient X-ray procedures (panoramic and cephalometric) and intraoral photographs; develop and store X-Rays in the electronic dental record
- Set up and record periodontal charting per Provider’s instruction
- Prepare and set up instruments and equipment for patient exams
- Mix materials for exams with infection control in mind
- Provide preventative periodontal care including coronal polish, fluoride treatments, and sealants
- Start and monitor nitrous oxide analgesia as necessary under Provider supervision (Washington only)
- Educate patients on oral hygiene in clinic and Mobile Unit school-based programs
- Assist in infection control program, ensure sterile packaging, sterilize instruments/equipment, and clean autoclaves and operatories
- May assist in Orthodontics (patient records, bite registrations, models, retainers, and ligature ties)
- May perform Lead duties: managing daily department flow, liaison with supervisor, scheduling breaks, training staff
- Perform clinical responsibilities aligned with The Joint Commission (TJC), HRSA, and YVFWC requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification within 90 days
- Registration as a Dental Assistant or EFDA certification; Surgical Technologist registration if assisting a Dentist in the operating room
- Note: Dental Assistants must obtain WA state registration within 7 days of hire; prior to registration, observing patient care and assisting with paperwork/receptionist duties only
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at level 10
- Basic knowledge of medical/dental terminology, dental anatomy, materials/instruments, infection control, and oral health instruction
- Ability to perform four-handed dental assisting (instrument transfer, oral evacuation, cement mixing, spatulation)
- Strong manual dexterity and professional interaction with patients of all ages
- Basic proficiency with EDR, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
